Google decides which the best pages are – both the best match for a search query and the ones that have the best page rank. Getting your pages to rank highly is the harder part, and is what search engine marketing (SEM) will achieve for you.
First of all, I am going into blog sites like “blinkbits” and “bloglines” and creating accounts. So, if you like the content on any of the pages, you can, as of today, add it to those two sites by pressing the buttons on my site. These links take a while to create, but, I am taking that slowly. What happens is that when a reader adds your page to one of these sites, it creates a link which increases your site’s rankings.

The beauty of blogs is that you can update them online, as long as you have internet connection. No need for expensive web design software.
Using a company e-mail address as your contact is a must. If you’re making a portfolio then make sure your full name is in the e-mail address and do not use nicknames or fun names. You will not be taken seriously.
Never bite off more than you can chew by attempting to design multiple sites at once. You should keep things simple by only working on one site at a time. Even if you do have some web design skills, you may get crossed up with your projects, or one of your sites may suffer neglect. Just take things one at a time.
